Browsing and subscriptions

Sign in to your reddont instance to read feeds and save subscriptions. Your reddont account keeps these settings independently of any Reddit account.

Get around

On desktop, the bar across the top links to home, popular, all, subs, and search, followed by your subscriptions. my subreddits lists them all, as Reddit Enhancement Suite does: type to filter the list and press Enter to open the first match, or sort it by name or by when you last visited each community. Visit times stay in the browser you visited from. Select the reddont logo to return home, or your username or preferences to open the dashboard. On a phone, the navigation drawer contains the same main destinations.

Home combines your subscribed communities. If your subscription list is empty, it shows the all feed. Open a community directly at /r/community. Multiple communities can be combined as /r/programming+technology.

On home, all, and popular, the hot, new, rising, controversial, and top feeds show only posts submitted within the past seven days, including when paging or scrolling. Older pinned posts are excluded too. Each tab keeps Reddit's listing order.

Individual and combined communities keep older posts available. In all five sorts, each page puts posts from the past week first, preserving upstream order within the recent and older groups. Quiet communities with only older posts still show what is available. Home uses Reddit's combined listing for your reddont subscriptions, so it can differ from the personalized home feed of a separate Reddit account.

Follow communities

Subscribe from a community page (join in the desktop sidebar) or open subs to manage your list.

  • Use ++ for bulk additions. Paste names separated by commas or newlines, review the names, and select Add Subscriptions.
  • Filter the list to find a saved community.
  • Unsubscribe individually, or use the remove-all control to clear the list.

These changes update only your reddont subscriptions. They do not subscribe or unsubscribe your account on Reddit.

Choose how posts look

The desktop layout follows old reddit with Reddit Enhancement Suite. The tabs beside the logo choose the sort; for top and controversial, links from selects the time range. Community feeds default to all time and offer hour, day, week, month, year, and all time. On home, all, and popular, the choices stop at a week (the default); older links requesting a month, year, or all time use the past week instead. show images switches to card view, which opens every post's media in place, and hide images returns to the compact listing. On a phone, the same choices live in the sort and view menus above the feed.

Select a post's thumbnail or its expando button to open media or text in place. Galleries step through their images with the arrows above them. Comments open the discussion page, where [–] collapses a comment and its replies, hide child comments folds just the replies, and permalink opens a single comment thread.

load more comments adds the next batch of comments and their replies in place. With Never Ending Reddit enabled, the next batch loads automatically as you reach the bottom of the discussion. Nested reply groups still open when you select them. If a load fails, select load more comments to retry. continue this thread opens deeper replies in a separate thread view.

On desktop, the keyboard works as it does with RES:

Key Action
j / k Select the next or previous post or comment.
x or Enter Expand or collapse the selection.
c Open the selected post's comments.

Adult and spoiler previews start hidden. The dashboard can allow adult thumbnails while keeping the rest of your preferences. See preferences.

Search and paging

Use search to find communities or posts. A post search can be sorted by relevance, new, hot, top, or comments, narrowed to a time range, and set to include NSFW results. On desktop, the sidebar's search box shows these options when you click into it, and on a community's pages it starts limited to that subreddit.

Results list matching subreddits above the posts, each with a join button and a link to search within it. The sorted by and links from menus above the posts change the sort or time range of the current search.

Feeds normally offer pagination; the dashboard's Never Ending Reddit preference loads more posts and comments while you scroll instead.

On home, all, and popular, feeds fetch ahead to fill gaps left by filtered posts. An empty filtered page offers next when more results are available. Saved pages from these feeds expire when a displayed post leaves the selected range. Community feeds retain older posts when returning with the back button. Post search and the JSON/RSS API keep their separate time-range controls.

The app is read-only. Follow the original post link if you want to vote, submit a post, or comment on Reddit itself.
